About Me

Hello! My name is Ms. Elizabeth (Liz) Harker and I will be your child's first grade teacher this year. I previously taught Kindergarten at Roland Park for two years and this is my second year teaching First Grade! I am really looking forward to having your child in my class and can't wait for school to begin. I may even have had your son or daughter two years ago in Kindergarten Summer School!

I believe education is a critical part of life long success. Along with that, I believe all children can learn and succeed and I have high expectations for all of my students. I plan to help my students master this year's content and be prepared for next year as well. I encourage you to be as involved as possible in your child's education. Parents are a child’s first educator and I believe if we work together it will help your child strive for success. You can expect open communication and understanding from me. I will also be willing to assist you and your child with any education concern or conflict you may have. 

Education

This is my fourth year teaching at Roland Park Elementary/Middle School. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware in 2005 in Finance. I worked at T. Rowe Price in operations for three years and then switched careers to become a teacher.  I was accepted in the Baltimore City Teaching Residency in 2008 and took classes and completed training to become a highly-qualified teacher.  I recently finished my Masters in Teaching at Johns Hopkins University last spring!

Hobbies

In my free time I enjoy working out, reading and spending time with my family and friends. I also am the proud mother of a four year-old Bichon Frise, Izzy, who I love to pieces!
